The Federal Government on Monday handed over 20 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to the Oyo State Government as part of efforts to address challenges related to petrol importation. The handover ceremony took place at the Pacesetter Transport Service in Ibadan, led by Michael Oluwagbemi, CEO and Programme Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative.
Oluwagbemi highlighted the significance of Ibadan as a pioneer location for the CNG initiative and emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s vision of using Nigeria’s gas resources to improve transportation and other sectors. He stated that these buses represent a sustainable partnership to enhance mass transit in the state.
Receiving the buses, Salami Dikko, Chairman of PTS, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and noted the increase in operational buses from 5 to 81. He called for an additional 100 CNG buses to expand coverage across the state.
