The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has condemned the Kogi State Police and Governor Usman Ododo for allegedly preventing Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from visiting her family home and meeting her constituents.
In a statement, HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, accused the police of acting as a political tool for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. The group described the security concerns cited to block the senator’s visit as politically motivated and called for an investigation into the conduct of the Kogi State Police.
HURIWA insists that the move undermines Akpoti-Uduaghan’s constitutional rights and warns against the abuse of law enforcement for political interests.
