Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONET) , a platform for citizens and Non state Actors is set to embark on sensitization and mobilization of citizens to comply with Non Pharmaceutical Intervention protocols , in curbing the spread of the deadly Coronavirus and protect the lives of citizens.
This was made known in the new year address which was co-signed by the group’s chairman and co-chair, Citizens Open Government Partnership, Prince Chris Azor and Comrade Kenechukwu Makwudo, Organizing Secretary .
According to the statement , one of the ways of flattening the curve of the second wave of Covid-19 is ensure restriction and strict compliance adherence to protocols.
The statement also stated that members of ASCONET in the 21 local government areas of the state , have been trained and sensitized to step down to the 330 political wards. Their volunteers are also assisting other health workers and stakeholders in identification, contact tracing and testing of citizens.
The group also tasked governments at the Federal and sub-national levels to embark on massive developmental projects to fast track the process of existing te current ecenomic recession in the country by paying particular attention to security, social infrastructure, Agriculture, youth/women empowerment and general poverty alleviation.
Also speaking on the forth coming Anambra election, the civil society group urged all stakeholders to imbibe the culture of free, fair, credible and violence free elections and eschew all forms of bitterness. It also recommended early sensitization and education of the electorate to curb the worrisome voter apathy and vote buying in the state.
The group also commended the leadership style of Chief Willie Obiano for the palpable peace and good governance experienced in the state, while also commending the security agencies in the state for their excellent work in guarding the state against crime and criminality.
