Abattoir Operators In Anambra Charged To Abide By Rules And Regulations

Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu, says Abattoir operations will no longer be business as usual.
The Commissioner stated this at a meeting with all abattoir operators in the State, which took place in his office in Awka.
Engr. Odimegwu, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Ngozi Iwuno said the meeting was in line with the governor’s directive which mandates the operators to sanitize and restructure their operations to be in line with the Solution’s vision of creating a clean and healthy Anambra state.
The commissioner lamented the deplorable condition and unhygienic nature of some Abattoirs in the state and warned the operators that their license of operations would be withdrawn if they fail to comply with the stipulated standards.
He alerted that from time to time, Public Health Officers will be going for inspections in all abattoirs and defaulters will be severely punished.
