A U.S. federal judge has indefinitely blocked a presidential proclamation by Donald Trump aimed at halting Harvard University’s ability to admit international students.

Judge Allison Burroughs ruled the move violated constitutional rights and appeared retaliatory against the Ivy League school. The Trump administration had claimed national security concerns over Harvard’s vetting process.
Burroughs condemned the attempt as an assault on academic freedom and diversity, saying it threatened free expression in higher education.
“Freedom of expression, academic liberty, and global diversity must never be silenced by fear or politics.” — Judge Allison Burroughs
This decision follows a previous court block on efforts to revoke Harvard’s student visa program. Harvard remains in a legal fight to protect o$2 billion in frozen federal research grants.
