The Department of State Service has informed the public that it has commenced a full investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident where a staff of the Service was manhandled in Adamawa state, as seen in an online video on Sunday.
The confusion began on Sunday when the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State, announced the supplementary election result, declaring the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate Senator Dahiru Aishatu Binani as winner of the election which took place on Saturday 15th April when results were still being collated in some local government areas.
In a swift reaction the INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye said the REC made the declaration without recourse to laid down procedures and immediately announced the suspension of the collation of results and declaration that the announcement of result by the REC was null and void since results were still being collated in other local government areas.
The Department of State Services (DSS) said that investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances in which someone suspected to be its staff was allegedly manhandled by some political miscreants in Adamawa State.
