Amnesty International has condemned alleged threats made against NYSC member Ushie Uguamaye, also known as Raye, after she posted a video criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In the video, Uguamaye expressed frustration over Nigeria’s worsening economic situation.
She claimed NYSC officials summoned and threatened her for refusing to delete the video. Amnesty International, in a statement, defended her right to peacefully express discontent, urging authorities to focus on addressing inflation and poverty rather than silencing dissenting voices.
The organization demanded the threats be withdrawn and Uguamaye’s safety guaranteed, emphasizing that voicing opinions is a constitutional and international right.
