Anambra Fire Chief Holds Interactive Session With Firemen, Charges Them On Courage, More Input In The Job, Addresses Challenges
The Chief Fire Officer of Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Chukwudi Emmanuel Chiketa, has called on the Anambra Firemen to be more courageous and put more effort in the job so as to be more efficient and effective in the discharge of their duties whenever they are called upon in case of emergency or safety threat.
He made the call while Interacting with Firemen posted to the Headquarters and Ultramodern Fire Station on Tuesday, 4th June.
The Fire Chief also received work reports and challenges from various Unit Heads, including the State Prevention and Sensitization, Media, Statistics, ICT, EEC, Automobile Maintenance, and other Units.
While reacting to the various reports and addressing the challenges, the Fire Chief noted that the present administration in the State takes the safety of Ndi Anambra very seriously..
Engr. Chikera urged them to always reach out to him whenever the need arises, stating that his office is always open, and ready to attend to issues concerning the job, in order to ensure smooth and prompt response to duty and rendering of safety services.
In his speech, the Head, Prevention and Sensitization Unit, ACFS Kingsley Nwokoye, who had earlier took the Firemen on a parade and Live Fire Drills exercises, advised for comportment and absolute discipline in the job, noting that Fire Service is a Paramilitary body where discipline is fully displayed.
He further advised that those who engage in illegal prevention exercise across the State should henceforth put a stop to it or be severely punished when caught.
According to ACFS Nwokoye, Fire Prevention is not an individual job but, should be coordinated from the State Prevention and Sensitization Unit as designated by the Fire Chief.
He also warned those who go to places impersonating the Fire Chief and other official positions in the job to desist from it or be penalized when caught.
Others, including the Commander of Ultramodern Fire Station, ACFO Chidume Florence, other Unit Heads including HFO Nwegwu Harrison, FOII Okeke Chioma, FM1 Oranekwe Gabriel, PFSII Anah Samuel and others who spoke during the session reiterated on job improvement, while assuring quality response to duties.
