The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Anambra State branch, has described the state of general hospitals in the state as unfit for patients.
NMA, Anambra State branch also described the hospitals as not conducive for patients because of bushy environments, lack of electricity especially at nights, shortage of doctors and other medical personnel and a host of other issues.
Chairman NMA, Anambra State branch, Dr. Jide Onyekwelu, made the observations at Nkpor, Idemili North Council Area of the state during an interview on the performance of the health sector.
The association equally decried what it saw as poor hazard allowance for resident doctors at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, absence of insurance policies for doctors as well as, non implementation of the Consolidated Salary Scale for doctors.
The association further observed that unresolved issues of welfare and other packages for medical practitioners in the state have culminated to mass exodus from the Teaching Hospital.
