Anambra Govt Appeals To Waring Parties In Awgbu, Orumba North, To Embace Peace

Anambra State Government has appealed to waring factions in Awgbu town, Orumba North LGA, to sheath their swords and Embace peace.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Collins Nwabunwanne, made the appeal during reconciliatory meeting with the two factions at the Government House, Awka.

Commissioner Nwabunwanne who noted that the present administration of Governor Charles Soludo is passionate about ensuring Lasting peace and stability in all communities in the state, appealed to aggrieved parties that went to court to withdraw the case.

He assured them that government will do everything humanly possible to restore peace in the Town.

The Commissioner also promised that all those vying for positions in the town Union election would be allowed to contest for peace to reign.

He made it known that the Town Union election has been fixed for 14th May, 2022, to be supervised by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs among other legitimate and relevant Bodies.

Commissioner Nwabunwanne urged Elders in the Community to join hands with the state government to restore enduring peace in the Community.

He, however, warned that government would not hesitate to bring to book, individuals or groups found causing trouble in the town, even as he promised to appreciate some key individuals concerned in the matter as they agree to dialogue for reconciliation and peace to reign.

Responding, the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Michael Okechukwu, represented by Mr Pat Ezeanaka, the President-General, Mr Joe Onwuchekwe, Mr Pat Ezeanaka, Elder Mike Izuegbue, Mr Charles Nwajagu, Mr Amos Ammalu , Sir obed Obi and Barr Jude Ezeamadi among others from the five villages of Ugwu, Abor na Ato, Osikwu, Ozulumba and Amaugo as well as Ubulukor that made up the community, appreciated Governor Soludo and Commissioner Collins Nwabunwanne for the efforts in brokering peace, and promised their unalloyed support to achieve the set objective of installing duly elected executives in the forth coming Town Union Election.
