Anambra Govt. Initiates Low Interest Loans For MSMEs, As Small Business Owners, Entrepreneurs In Anambra Advised To Register Their Businesses To Benefit When Opportunities Arise.
Anambra State government says it plans to initiate low-interest loans for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMSE, as a way of supporting and nurturing businesses to thrive.
The Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Christian Udechukwu, who made this known while declaring open a One -day Anambra Small Business Summit which took place in Awka, posited that wealth creation is a priority of the present administration in the State.
Commissioner Udechukwu who represented Governor Chukwuma Soludo on the occasion, maintained that the initiative would help entrepreneurs overcome financial challenges, but pointed out that to qualify for such facility, one should fulfill certain requirements like registering with relevant bodies as well as coming up with ideas that work.
“For micro businesses, you can apply from zero to N10 million. It is funded by the Anambra State government and the Bank of Industry. But if you wish to access more than N10 million loan, you must ensure that you are registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and also own assets,” he added.
In her submission, Anambra State Coordinator, of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), lamented the altitude of small business owners in the state who disregard opportunities for loans and other supports to grow their businesses.
She spoke on the theme of the Summit: “Enhancing the Growth of Small Business for Job and Wealth Creation,” and encouraged them to always avail themselves such rare opportunities like other states by registering with the agency and Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME).
She maintained that with government support, the Agency has mapped out millions of naira, among other programs to boost small businesses.
Speaking earlier, Mr Chinemerem Oguegbe, the State Chairman of NASME, informed that the aim of the summit which was the first of its kind in the state, was to assist those in the private sector to develop their businesses despite challenges, including funds.
The Head of Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, in Anambra State, Mr Kingsley Ahamefula, drew the attention of participants to the importance of registering their businesses which, he noted, makes them recognized both locally and internationally.
