Anambra Govt To Conduct Oba Town Union Election In December, 2023.

Anambra State Government will, in December this year, conduct Oba Town Union election in line with the constitution of the state and Oba Patriotic Union.
The State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. Collins Nwabunwanne, announced this when some cabinet members and stakeholders in Oba came to his office at the Government House, Awka, to brainstorm on the way forward in the town.
He went down memory lane on the efforts he has made to maintain peace in the town to enable them elect their leaders successfully.
The commissioner, while assuring
Ndi Oba that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is passionate about returning peace and stability in all warring communities in the state, called for constitution amendment whereby in the case of demise of any traditional ruler, a Regent stays only one year in office before the emergence of new Monarch.
He assured that Oba people will elect their leaders by themselves without any interference from anybody, and promised to give them the desired Support.
The Commissioner appealed to the Cabinet members and other Stakeholders from the community to give maximum Support to the Interim Executive and assured aggrieved members that the issue of petitions written against them, would be addressed for peace and development of the town.
In their separate reactions, Chief Emma Omelumadu, Barr Felix Uzo, Chief Okwudiba Anyaorah, Barr Orlando Ibeakuzie, Hon. Barr Chukwu Oranusi, and Sir Boniface Onyeka, appreciated Governor Soludo and the Commissioner for the way they handle town union issues.
They promised continuous support to the present Administration and interim Executives to enable them function effectively.
In a vote of thanks, the interim Committee President-General, Sir Osita Ifedili Ubadi, made it known that he never wrote petition against any body and promised to abide by the Commissioner’s instruction for peace to reign.
In his closing prayer, Sir Vincent Ananti prayed for a new dawn in Oba Community.
