Anambra Ministry of Women Affairs, Rescues Mentally Challenged Mother and Child at Nnewi.

The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, yesterday, at Amaoka Junction, Nnewi, rescued a mentally challenged mother and her six year old son.

This followed series of posts by concerned citizens on social media, appealing to government to intervene on behalf of the woman and her two children who roamed aimlessly along Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.

The pair were successful rescued after a frantic search and several visits to Nnewi by the Social Welfare Department of the Ministry..

In her reaction after the rescue, the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, who personally interviewed the woman who claimed that she is a native of Ichi Nnewi, Nnewi North Council Area, ordered for their immediate transfer to government owned facility where they would be cared for, until they are certified alright to be reunited with their family and integrated back into the society.
