Police in Anambra State say they have arrested two suspected tricycle snatchers specialists who attacked a commercial tricycle operator in Oba, along Onitsha/Owerri road, Idemili South Local government area of Anambra state.
The Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed who disclosed this in a statement, said the suspects reportedly disposesed the victim of his tricycle, after pouring a pepperish substance on his face.
He said the snatched tricycle was also recovered in their possession and registered as exhibit.
According to Haruna, on 26/5/2020, around 7:55am, at Umuogali Oba along Onitsha/Owerri road, two suspected members of tricycle snatching syndicate who specialized in snatching tricycles popularly called KEKE, were arrested by Police patrol team attached to Oba Division in Idemili South Council Area of Anambra State.
He gave the name of the suspects as IKENNA IBEMESI aged 28 years of Ogbunike town and CHUKWUDI OFFORBUIKE, aged 35 years of Nkwere Ogidi, allegedly poured a pepperish substance on the face of the tricycle rider one Joseph Asogwa of No.31 Iro-Okoye Street, Obosi, and snatched his tricycle with Registration No. NKK 744 QY.
Haruna said the victim quickly raised alarm which attracted the attention of police patrol team who quickly responded and arrested the suspects.
He said the case is under investigation after which suspects would be brought to justice.
Also, the Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang, has urged keke/motorcycle riders in the State to be wary of such syndicates especially at the early or late hours of the day in order not to fall victims to the hoodlums.
