Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala has said the state will partner Sterling Bank Plc and Helium Health partners to digitise state-owned healthcare facilities.
Dr Okpala who said this during an advocacy visit by the representatives from the bank and Helium Health at his Jerome Udoji Secretariat Office Complex, Awka,
explained that the partnership would help in ensuring good data collection, better documentation and optimal performance from healthcare providers in the state.
He noted that the State Government encouraged Public Private Partnership (PPP), in all sectors and as an enabling environment created by Gov. Willie Obiano’s administration to promote good governance, while insisting that data is key to most of the things we do, especially at the care level.
Explaining further he revealed that with good data, we’ll have better documentation and better ideas of what happens to patients which will help doctors and nurses get a clear picture of one’s health status on examination without much struggle.
It will also help to improve quality of care, above every other thing, as one won’t have inputs that may be misinterpreted by the nurse thereby administering wrong medication. Proper documentation will also help in auditing, capturing and blocking revenue leakages and ensure efficient management of the system.
The Commissioner concluded that Anambra state is willing to partner with them through his office as the present administration is passionate about a healthy society.
Sterling Bank representative, Mr Nnamdi Onyia said that they were seeking collaboration and partnership in the state with regards to the bank’s strategy and digitisation of healthcare while noting that the bank resolved to reposition healthcare not only in Anambra but in all the states in order for the citizenry to access quality healthcare.
According to him, the collaboration is in progress and he is satisfied with the outcome of their deliberations with the ministry of health.
He hinted that digitization will not only enhance data documentation but will also improve human care.
