Anambra State Football Association committed To Developing Football from Grassroots.

Anambra State Football Association has emphasised its commitment toward rejuvenating football in the state from the grassroots.

Caretaker Committee Chairman of newly inaugurated state FA, Emeka Okeke made this known at Iyiora Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area (LGA).

Okeke said that the aim of his visit was to assess football facilities in the area and to sensitise citizens on the need to go back to the grassroots and discover young and fresh talents.

He stated that football has changed lives, saved families, and football is a gateway out of poverty.

Anambra State is home to amazing talents and there is the potential to attract foreign investments and even spectators with the right projection.

He said that they have started a campaign tagged, `My Anambra Football Campaign’, to sensitise citizens on the need to go back to local football and discover young and fresh talents.’

Okeke said that his committee was poised toward providing the enabling environment for the development of football in the state.

He solicited the support of all stakeholders including traditional rulers, President’s-Generals and parents, noting that the project would not be carried out by government alone.

Receiving the team, Transition Committee Chairman, Anambra West LGA, Sylvester Orji-Okafor represented by Chukwudokwe Udevi thanked the committee, pledging their total support to the mission.

He said that sports development at the grassroots were key to spotting talents and producing superstars for National and International events.

He assured of their support to help achieve the aims and drive the desired change in football development in Anambra.’

President-General, Iyiora Anam community, Albert Onyekwe thanked the team for choosing Iyiora, pledging support and total commitment to the project.

Anambra State FA Jersey was presented to the Transition Committee Chairman and pitches were marked for commencement of football practices.
