Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, says a hit-and-run 911 Mercedes Benz Truck driver whose identity was not captured, on Friday afternoon, knocked down a girl who was crossing the expressway at building Materials Junction Nteje, along Onitsha- Awka express way.
Eyewitnesses, said the girl did not observe the road before crossing, adding that the truck driver fled after knocking her down.
The Acting Sector Public Education Officer, RC Kamal Musa, said the victim was taken to Iyi-Enu Hospital Ogidi, by FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command and was confirmed dead by the Doctors.
The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew Kumapayi, while praying for God to grant the deceased family the fortitude to bear the irrevocable loss, strongly warned road users against crossing the expressways.
He said pedestrians must endeavour to use pedestrian bridges, to avoid being knocked over by vehicles plying the expressway.

In a similar development, a fatal Road Traffic Crash which occurred yesterday morning, opposite Peg filling Station, Enugu-Ukwu, along Onitsha-Awka Old road, claimed one life and injured others.
The road crash involved a Green 911 Mercedes-Benz Tipper with registration number, XU 214 LND and a Peugeot 504 Pick up Van, driven by one Mr. Innocent Okolo Udu, with registration number AA 635 BB
Eyewitnesses, said the crash occurred as a result of loss of control due to break failure .
The State Sector Acting Public Education Officer of the State FRSC, RC Kamal Musa, informed that a total of three male adults, involved in the crash, were taken to Beke hospital Nimo, were one of them was confirmed dead by Doctors.
The Sector Commander. Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew Kumapayi, condoled with the deceased family. and strongly warned Truck drivers to embark on regular maintenance of vehicles, as well as ensure their vehicles meet the minimum safety requirements by law before putting them on the road to avoid road traffic crashes.
