Anambra State Government Bans The Use Of Keke, Shuttle Buses And Motorcycles Between 7 PM And 6 AM

The Anambra State Government has banned the use of motorcycles, tricycles (keke) and shuttle buses within the state between 7pm and 6am, the directive, given in a view to restore security in the state, is set to take effect from today, Saturday, 29 2021 and last for 1 month in the first instance.

This was made known in a release by the Secretary to Anambra State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu on Friday, in a public service announcement, issuing warnings to transporters in the state.

Reiterating that the earlier ban on the use of motorcycles in greater Onitsha and Awka areas during the day and night, remains in full force, and any motorcycle found within these areas will be impounded and forfeited,

The statement also stated that henceforth, any community where Keke is used to Rob or commit any crime, the use of Keke will be banned totally in that area and the union exco sanctioned. Same measures will be applied in the case of shuttle buses and motorcycles.

It was further stressed that shuttle buses are henceforth banned from using tinted glasses or curtains while plying Anambra roads and other vehicles; either with factory fitted tinted glasses or plain glasses must wind down while approaching any security check points to avoid embarrassment.

The Government thereby, directed full mobilisation of community youths and stakeholders across the State to take ownership of security in their immediate environments and assist the Police and other Law enforcement Agents to enforce these directives and quickly restore law and order in the State.
