The Anambra State Government has commenced payment of compensation to owners of properties that had to give way for Construction of Ekwulobia Flyover, and other critical infrastructural projects at Ekwulobia.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma said this when he paid a visit to Aguata Local Government Headquarters, the venue for verification and payment of the compensation to demolished property owners.
Engr. Okoma who did the symbolic presentation of cheque to one of the property owners said that Gov. Charles Soludo has approved the compensation payment in order to alleviate the sufferings of those affected by the demolition.
He said, “Following the Mr. Governor’s approval, a team from the State Ministry of Works, the Consultant, and the Contractor moved to these areas to determine the Right of Way (ROW) for the proposed projects, while the services of a Valuer was engaged to carry out a detailed enumeration of properties and claimants affected by the development including residential, commercial, and filling stations”.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Kelvin Ezenduka expressed gratitude to the state government, noting that the compensation will help in alleviating some of their sufferings.
