Youths have been charged to be resolved in their in their hearts to key into state government programmes through the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy for their development and growth as well as that of Anambra State.
The Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Professor Theresa Obiekezie, gave the advice in Awka at the Symposium to mark this year’s World Entrepreneurs Day, assuring that the Ministry was ever ready to engage the youths in programmes that will better their lives, with enabling environment created by government.
Professor Obiekezie noted that youths are not just leaders of tomorrow but are also catalysts in the socio-economic development and growth of any society.
She pointed out that in celebrating the day, the should bear in mind that entrepreneurship is vital not just for job creation but also a very essential integral part of economic growth.
The Commissioner further noted that since he assumed office, governor Willie Obiano has been supportive of various youths programmes which gave rise to “One Youth, One Skill Initiative which has trained over 700 youths between November 2018 and August this year.
According to her, those youths were trained in various skills like Confectioneries/Event Management, Computer Management/Software Application, POP, Tilling and Screeding/Interlocking etc.
The benefiting youths who were visibly elated during the event, took turn to share their lofty dreams with the audience and thanked the State Government and the Ministry for making youths’ welfare one of their topmost priorities.
No fewer than 35 youths have been empowered by the State Government under the ” One Youth, One Skill Programme”.
