Anambra State Government is consulting a leading private solar energy developing company, Solynta Energy to provide alternative power sources through solar to sustain operations of industrial concerns in the state in order to improve their productivity.
While exchanging views with newsmen after a duty tour of facilities at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company, Nnewi, the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke noted the need for the state to think of an alternative to power supply sources.
According to him, we are here to look at Innoson as one of the key industries in the state in need of alternative power source as the company has been using generators for its productions but if we can install solar system, it will help them to improve their production margin as well as other businesses in the state.
Pointing at funding as one of the key problems, Dr Okeke called on developers in the sector that could provide the initial grant to key into the solar systems to enable it to work in the state.
The Managing Director, Solynta Energy Company, Mr Ifeanyi Njoku expressed satisfaction at the level of progress at Innoson production site in spite of their use of generators, but posited that when fully introduced to solar energy, they would become the leading vehicle manufacturing company, as no competitor would match them.
Assuring his company’s efficiency, Mr Njoku said that Solynta energy had been tried in every part of the world adding that solar panels could last effectively for between 30 to 40 years, when properly installed.
He also assured of his company’s readiness to partner Anambra State Government in providing adequate solar energy to industries in the state.
