Anambra State Government Organizes Infrastructure Vision and Procurement Transparency Training

The Anambra State Government has initiated payments to CPCS Transcom Limited, an international infrastructure development company based in Ottawa, Canada, for the creation of a railway masterplan for the state. This move is part of the government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and fostering economic development.

A six-day training program on Public Procurement practices for Local Government stakeholders has commenced in Awka. This event is a collaborative effort between the State Bureau of Public Procurement and the Ministry of Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs. It aims to benefit all 21 Transition Committee chairmen in the state.

During the event, Architect Okey Ezeobi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Bureau of Public Procurement, emphasized that the state has achieved 100% compliance with the Public Procurement Act at the state level and aims to extend this success to the local government level.

Architect Ezeobi, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Bureau of Public Procurement, shared this information during a press briefing ahead of a 6-Day Capacity Building Series on public procurement practices for local government stakeholders in Awka, the state capital. This training program is a collaboration between the State Bureau of Public Procurement and the Ministry of Local Government, Community Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Ezeobi explained that after careful consideration of technical and financial bids, as well as domestic experience, CPCS Transcom Limited was selected among ten international organizations to design the State Rail Masterplan for Anambra State. The masterplan aims to extend the railway network to the state’s boundaries, attracting potential investors eager to support its implementation.
