Anambra State Government is partnering the World Bank through the Federal Government of Nigeria to facilitate grants to cushion the effects of Coronavirus pandemic on Small and Medium Enterprises.
This was made known by the The MD/CEO. of Anambra State Small Business Agency (ASBA), Chief Clement Chukwuka, when some members of the I-Witness Media Office visited him in Awka.
He said that the grant which is known as Nigeria CARES , is aimed at reducing the sufferings of SMEs in this pandemic era.
He equally noted that any one who qualifies to obtain the loan shall make a repayment of 60% while Anambra State Government pays the remaining 40%.
Chief Chukwuka stated that so far, the agency has granted loans to over 30,000 Ndi Anambra on SMEs.
And has recovered over 85% of the loans which is the highest in the country so far.
The ABSA boss said that due to the diligence in the management of Small businesses by the state, Anambra took first position in 2019 as the most SMEs supportive state in Nigeria.
He cited Nkwelle Ezunaka Shoe cluster as one of the testimonial achievements of Governor Willie Obiano in empowering entrepreneurs.
Chief Chukwuemeka also said that the Special Assistant to the President on SMEs, Hon. Tola Johnson will be in Anambra State on Friday to commission shoe equipment provided by the Federal Government to the state as a reward for being overall best in the country as regards the management of SMEs .
It would be recalled that upon assumption of office, Gov. Willie Obiano established ASBA in 2014 to help in sustaining the small and medium enterprises upon a law passed by the Anambra State House of Assembly.
