Anambra State Government has ordered the massive repair of various critical roads in the state.

Governor Soludo, who stated this in Awka, also requested the Federal Government to kindly intervene on an emergency basis, on a number of federal roads in the state that have become nightmarish death traps.

He said such interventions were necessary considering the fact that a good road network is critical in the reduction of traffic congestion in the state, reduction of road accidents as well as alleviating the sufferings of the masses.

Governor Soludo however, hinted that while the Federal Government response is being awaited, he would have to implement urgent palliatives in some places where roads are literally cutting off.

With about 31% of the total budget allotted to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Soludo government intends to simultaneously invest in inroads in most of the local governments, with special attention to the state’s urban regeneration agenda.

He has warned that his administration will have zero tolerance for poor quality road infrastructure delivery. Where any road fails before the expected lifespan as designed, both the contractor and the public official that certified the project will be held accountable and sanctioned.

He will deliver durable roads and, will also explore alternative models, including decongestion to deliver more and better roads. Whatever Soludo Solutions says he will do, he will do. The days of road congestion and long hours of traffic jams are over in Anambra, they are debilitating and a huge cost to productivity.

Governor Soludo is seeking a strategic partnership to ensure that more quality roads are delivered as corporate social responsibility projects in Anambra state.
