
Honourable Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Chief Uche Okafor Wiper, acting on the directives of the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has inaugurated a Taskforce on Adulterated Goods and Products in Anambra state.
The 37 member committee led by the Chairman, Mr. Charles Mokwe and Hon. Chibuzo Nwokeji (Obele Prince) as Secretary was inaugurated moments yesterday at the Commissioner’s office, Jerome Udorji Secretariat in Awka.
In his remarks, the Commissioner, Hon. Okafor said the committee will assist NAFDAC, SON and others in the fight against fake goods and products in the state.
Hon. Okafor recalled that the Anambra State House of Assembly had on motion no.1 of 2020 urged the Governor to set up a taskforce on substandard goods and counterfeit drugs with the view of combating fake and adulterated products in the Anambra markets and directed them to liaise with the enforcement agents in carrying out the function.
Mr. Charles Mokwe, the Chairman of the Taskforce who spoke on behalf of the team thanked Governor Obiano for making them members of such important committee and promised to do their best in fighting the counterfeiters.
