In a significant move to enhance internal security, the Anambra State Security Trust Fund has donated 10 Innoson patrol vehicles equipped with modern security gadgets to the State Vigilante Group (AVG).

The handover ceremony, held at the State Government House in Awka on Tuesday, marked a crucial step to bolster security, especially during the festive season.

Chief Chidi Anyeagbu, Chairman of the State Trust Fund, highlighted the importance of the donation in supporting the state government’s efforts to tackle insecurity.

He emphasized that the vehicles, a refurbished security vehicle/Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), and a 10-bedroom bungalow mechanic residence were purchased through contributions from Anambra indigenes at home and abroad.

Anyeagbu commended the present administration led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, stating that Anambra has maintained a commendable record as Nigeria’s safest state under his leadership.

He emphasized the administration’s commitment to making the state even more secure, with security being the top priority.

The Chairman urged the State Vigilante Group to collaborate with other security agencies to effectively utilize the sophisticated surveillance equipment for crime detection and prevention. Residents were encouraged to report crimes and suspicious activities to nearby security outfits.

Chief Chikaodi Anara, the State Commissioner for Homeland Security, received the items on behalf of the government. He expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the security gadgets would motivate and enhance the operational capacity of the State Vigilante Group. Anara reiterated the administration’s commitment to declaring a total war on criminal elements, ensuring peace, and guaranteeing the safety of law-abiding citizens.

Anara also invited indigenous people living outside the state to return home for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, assuring them of guaranteed safety. The event was attended by key figures including Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (retd.), the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Security Matters, and other security agencies.
