Anambra State has taken first position in the 2020 National Common Entrance Examination.
The results, recently released by the National Examinations Council (NECO) saw Crucifixio Chinua Umeonyiagu, a pupil of God’s Wisdom International Primary School, Nnewi, in Anambra State Anambra State secure a near perfect score of 199 marks out of 200;
emerging with the best result out of a total of 70,580 candidates who sat for the Common Entrance Examination nationwide.
This was contained in a statement released in Awka on Friday by the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba.
The registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Godswill Obioma, who presented the results to the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu in Abuja, revealed that Anambra’s Umeonyiagu was trailed by Onwuamanam Udochukwu from Enugu State with 198 marks and Salaam Mariam Aderemilekun from Lagos State with 197 marks.
Earlier this month, Francis Chijioke Osakwe from Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area scored A1 in each of the 9 subjects he sat for in the 2020 West African School Certificate examination.
2 indigenes of Anambra State, namely, Ego Maduafokwa from Ihiala, and David Nwobi from Njikoka Local Government Area, also scored the highest marks in the 2020 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examination.
