Anambra Vigilante Member Arrested With Pump-Action Gun Hidden In Bag Of Rice For Robbery

Anambra Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspected deviant security operative, Enediong Bassey, and recovered a pump-action gun hidden in a bag of rice. The arrest was made on November 22 by operatives from the 3-3 Police Division, following credible intelligence. This was made known to the public by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga

During interrogation, the suspect, a native of Akwa Ibom, confessed to planning to use the weapon to join a criminal gang for armed robbery.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, expressed concern over misconduct by vigilante members and reiterated the importance of profiling security operatives assisting police efforts. He emphasized the need for strict adherence to community policing principles to ensure safety in the state.

The suspect has been transferred to the Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigation.
