APC chieftain, Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo, has appealed to the state government to give speedy implementational accent to sickle cell law already passed in Anambra

A frontline Gubernatorial candidate in the State and APC chieftain, Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo, has appealed to the state government to give speedy implementational accent to sickle cell law already passed by the Anambra state house of Assembly to better the lives of sickle cell patients in the state.

Chief Johnbosco who was a special guest of honour on a health Workshop organised for sickle cell patients by the National Cordinator of person living with Sickle Cell, APLSC, described quality health care and policies as non negotiable basic necessities of life which he said any serious Government should not play politics with.

Chief Onunkwo maintained he doesn’t take pleasure in criticising Government but noted that quality health care , security of life and properties,education etc are some of core values that should be top priorities by any serious Government , revealing that sickle cell Children can always to contribute to workforce because they wonderfully intelligent and commitment in what ever they do.

While commending The National Cordinator of APLSC , Mrs Aisha Edward for her dogged Ness and commitment to the fight to better the lives of Sicklers, Chief Onunkwo assures the association of his support and partnership which according to him will be in present continuos , maintaining that any body born with Sickle cell should have comprehensive Government health care insurance noting that he was aware of the excruciating bone pains sicklers go through out their life time .

He however called on state Government to embark on massive Road repairs and palliative across the state ahead of ’ember months and Yuletide seasons describing Anambra state roads as deplorable and deaths traps.

Responding , National Cordinator for person living with sickle cell anaemia , Mrs Aisha Edward, thanked Engr Johnbosco for his humanitarian gesture to the poor and downtrodden in the society particularly his partnership and commitment towards making the Anambra sickle cell home are befitting one.

While lamenting that managing Sickle cell anaemia is an expensive one, Mrs Aisha revealed she comes from affluence background and had been to several peace mission with the Nigerian Army but has decided to take up this fight to give voice to Sickle Cell Patient , appealing to Government at all level that what Sicklers are asking for is simply a chance to live .

Other high points of the event were presenting of the sickle Cell law to chief Onunkwo who in turn made huge cash donation , and provided some of the basic amenities needed to make the sickle cell and orphanage home a befitting one.
