APGA Nat. Chairman Celebrates NIGERIA At 63.
— Urges The Federal Government and The Organized Labour To Place The Interest of The Country Above All Other Considerations.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa has joined well meaning Nigerians to mark the country’s 63rd Independence Anniversary.
Speaking to newsmen at the regional headquarters of the party, Ezeokenwa expressed great confidence in the country’s socioeconomic and political development stating, “despite the evident challenges we have encountered, we have persisted and emerged triumphant.”
The APGA National Chairman called on both the political class and all citizens to engage in deep reflection and internalize the profound significance embedded within the lyrics of our National anthem.
He specifically highlighted the section that implores “us to ensure that the sacrifices made by our past heroes are not in vain”.
Additionally, he emphasized the need for both political leaders and the people to embrace the message collectively, working together to honor the sacrifices and aspirations of the nation’s heroes.
“I am convinced that Nigeria possesses immense promise for us if we are all willing to put in the necessary work. We may not have reached our ideal state as a people, but it is undeniable that we have come a long way from where we used to be,” Ezeokenwa stated.
On the lingering dispute between the Organized Labour and the federal government, the APGA helmsman admonished all parties, especially members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and their Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart as well as the federal government to find a common ground in the overall interest of the country.
According to Barr. Ezeokenwa, “as a party we are concerned about the welfare of the peoples of Nigeria, this is why our Party’s motto is ‘be your brothers and sisters keeper’.” He further stated, “I am persuaded to speak to the federal government, NLC and TUC to consider the impact of their action on the majority of the people who are largely in the informal sector and survive squarely on their daily struggles. It is for this class of citizens we must show great empathy before taking any decisions.”
The APGA National Chairman also urged President Tinubu to actively pursue measures that would create an inclusive Nigeria, benefiting all citizens, irrespective of their social class, tribal background, political affiliation, or religious beliefs.
