The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has been declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State.
The Independent National Electoral Commision INEC’s returning officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi made the announcement of the final result at about 1:50am on Wednesday.
Adding up all the votes polled by each of the political parties in the Tuesday supplementary polls to those already declared on Sunday from the 20 local government areas of the state, she announced the votes polled by the political parties as follows; APGA :112, 229, APC, 43,285, , PDP, 53,807, amongst others.
According to her, the total number of valid votes in the election stood at 241,523. 8, 108 votes were rejected bringing the total votes cast in the election as 249,631.
Prof Obi thanked the chairman of INEC and his team for this opportunity given to them and their university to partake in this Anambra 2021.
She also expressed her gratitude to service chiefs and the people of Anambra State,
She stated that Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, certified the requirement of the law before declaring him the winner of the November 6 and 9 2021 election.
In his excited remark, former chairman of APGA, Senator Victor Umeh victory said the election was transparent, and has been adjudged the best election so far held in the state.
He said that the win shows that APGA is on ground and is the party of the people in the state.
He urged the other political parties to concede victory to their party and the candidate, because the people made a clear choice.
