The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has encouraged youths to abide by the words of God and eschew all vices capable of tarnishing their future.
Most Reverend Ibezim stated this in a sermon at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith Awka during a service to mark the Girls Guild Sunday which has its theme “Esther’s Generation”.
Most Reverend Ibezim who spoke through the President, Mother’s Union, Women’s Guild and Girls Guild, Province of the Niger and Diocese of Awka, Mrs Martha Ibezim said that parents should live up to the responsibility of grooming their wards positively, instill morals and root them in the things of God so that they will not deviate from it.
He maintained that while they put more interest in training the girl child, they should nurture the boys to be agent of change and ambassadors of Christ, and frowned at some parents who leave their responsibilities to caregivers even as he identified poor training and neglect as causes of ills in today’s society.
