Archbishop Ibezim Leads Bishops To Site Of Collapsed DMGS Building In Onitsha

The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, has described the recent collapse of Centenary building of Dennis Memorial Grammar School, DMGS, Onitsha, as a big temptation that can happen anywhere.
Most Reverend Ibezim said this when he led Bishops under the Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger to visit the site of the collapsed building, where they encouraged the Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo, not to be discouraged by the incident.
Most Reverend Ibezim, who is also the Bishop, Diocese of Awka, described DMGS Onitsha as the pride of the Anglican Church, calling on all the old boys whom, he said, are at the frontiers of nation building, to come back and show that they can do greater things.
He called on government to carry them along in the cause of the investigation as, according to him, the Church needs protection, dignity and respect.
Responding, Bishop Nwokolo thanked Bishops of Province of the Niger for their solidarity, prayers and support, saying that what happened was regrettable; as they did not envisage such.
He informed that he has set up a high-powered panel of enquiry led by Justice Pete Obiora to investigate and determine the cause of the building collapse with terms of reference, and urged the public to disregard any unconfirmed report flying around.
Other Bishops present during the visit were Bishop Ephraim Ikeakor of Amichi Diocese, Right Reverend Ndubuisi Obi of Nnewi Diocese, Right Reverend Prosper Amah of Ogbaru Diocese, and the Bishop of Mbamili Diocese, Right Reverend Obiora Uzochukwu.
The Bishops took time to pray at the site of the incident.
