If there’s need to expand the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nooks and crannies of society, then there is need for ordained ministers of Christ who will propagate the gospel and direct believers to the gospel Light.
This was contained in a statement of the Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim when he ordained eight new deacons of the Anglican Communion, Diocese Of Awka during the Trinity Diaconate Ordination of the Diocese.
The newly ordained deacons are Reverends Benjamin Alagbu, Anthony Edoziuno, Solomon Ezeiruka and Nnaemeka Ezeonyi.
Others are Reverends Chukwuma Ikegbo, Chizoba Muogbo, Felix Okanime and Sunday Owolu.
Most Reverend Ibezim while performing the rituals of the ordaination, asked them to serve the church of God and to care for the poor, needy, sick and all who are in trouble.
Earlier in a sermon during the ordination service, Right Reverend Sam Chukwuka, a retired bishop of Isikwuato/Umunneochi Anglican Diocese, who spoke on the theme ” The kingdom of God is prepared for some people”. He charged Christians to serve God in spirit and in truth.
During his interview, Rev. Canon Nnamdi Ajaoku, Vicar at St. Mark’s Church, Umuawulu thanked God for the success of the ordination. He also prayed that the ordained deacons shall serve God in newness of their hearts.
In their separate interviews, Rev. Chidozie Nwakire and Professor Charles Ezeagba, Deputy registrar Diocese Of Awka, Anglican Communion enjoined the ordained priests to serve God as they are called to be shepherd in the flock of congregation. They also prayed that God shall be their helper.
The ordination service was attended by Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, The President, Women’s Ministry, Mrs Martha Ibezim, the legal team of the Diocese, some traditional rulers and others who converged at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Umuawulu to fecilitate with the new deacons.
Highpoint of the service was the examination of candidates, declaration of oaths of canonical obedience, Submission to Synod, allegiance to God, abstinence from homosexuality and bisexuality. The oaths were administered by the Diocesan Legal Officers led by the Chancellor, Hon. Justice Sir O.J. Okeke.
