As the Nigeria celebrated its 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day yesterday, many citizens and supporters of the Nigerian Military all over the world showed solidarity and support in honouring fallen heroes of the country.
According to media reports, Wreath-laying ceremonies were held in states across the country as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where President Muhammadu Buhari and other top officials were in attendance and pigeons were released.
Earlier on Thursday, the Federal Government, through the Media Adviser to the President, Femi Adesina, reeled out the achievements of the Defence headquarters in a release titled “Security Check List As Nigeria Marks Armed Forces Remembrance”.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD), also simply known as Remembrance Day, is a public holiday in Nigeria celebrated observed on 15 January to commemorate the servicemen of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
It also honors veterans of the World War I and II as well as the Nigerian Civil War.
