Army, Others Uncover Major Illegal Oil Refining Site In Ughelli

An illegal oil refining site in Ughelli south, Delta, was discovered by troops of the Nigerian Army, personnel from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and private security outfit, Tantita.

According to the Director, Army Public Relations , Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement made available on Sunday, the security operatives conducted a sting operation based on intelligence, leading to the uncovering of 35 Modular Ovens, 3 fabricated reservoirs, 30 dug-out reservoirs, and 75 galvanized pipes.

He said that the joint team is actively working to prevent oil theft and protect the oil sector from economic sabotage in the South-South region.

He also encouraged the citizens to report any suspected illicit oil refining and bunkering activities to the security agencies to support ongoing anti-oil theft efforts.
