As The World Marks World AIDS Day, Citizens Called To Shun All Acts That Encourage Spread Of The Disease

As the world marks the World AIDS day, the World health Organization, WHO, has, again, raised consciousness of the existence of the virus and expects the all to be wary if its consequences.
For the TEEPAC and Partners including an Awka based medical expect, Dr. Ernest Ifebi, the watchword to check the spread of the virus are Abstinence being faithful to ones partner, etc.
According to the group, all donated blood must be screened and unnecessary blood transfusion should be avoided.
The group also called for the use of disposable needles and syringes, improving obstetric care, and treating other sexually transmitted infections as soon as they are diagnised.
On his part, a former Awka Zonal Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Oliver Onwughalu, expressed delight that drugs are free to treat HIV patients.
According to Dr. Onwughalu, the WHO, Governments and NGOs have done much to control the spread of the virus, and urged the citizenry to be conscious of the dos and don’ts of the disease.
