Barely 24 hours after gunmen attacked, killed and made away with weapons of some naval and police officers in Awkuzu and Neni areas of Anambra state,
Another attack by gunmen on a vehicle of the Nigerian Correctional Service, conveying some inmates to court in Anambra, has left 2 dead.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the incident occurred at about 11:00 a.m. around Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state.
An eyewitness who spoke to NAN, said some of the officials and inmates in the vehicle ran for their lives.
Confirming the incident, the state Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Mr Francis Ekechukwu, expressed dismay over the attack and said the service had launched an investigation into the incident.
Also on Friday, it was reported that at about 4am, a police station also in Ekwulobia was attacked by gunmen.
Speaking on the matter, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said police operatives swiftly responded and chased the hoodlums away and investigation is ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of the act.
