The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four lawmakers for six months over an alleged attempt to impeach Speaker Aondona Dajoh.

Those affected are Alfred Berger of Makurdi North, Terna Shimawua of Kian, Cyril Ekong of Obi, and James Umoru of Apa constituency.

The suspension followed a motion of urgent importance moved by Majority Leader Saater Tiseer, who accused the lawmakers of trying to destabilize the Assembly with what he described as a needless crisis.

Following the resolution, the Speaker ordered the Sergeant-at-Arms to escort the suspended members out of the chambers and named Audu Elias as the new House spokesperson.
