As the global village celebrates Teachers’ Day which comes up every 5th of October, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor, has called on developing countries that do not appreciate the role of teachers in society to properly remunerate teachers to sustain their service to humanity.
Bishop Okafor speaking at this year’s World Teachers Day celebration pleaded with teachers not to abandon their vocation because of poor remuneration, but to continue to give their best to society.
He urged the beneficiaries of teachers efforts to utilise the knowledge impacted by their teachers for a better society.
The Prelate commended the Anambra state government for building on the foundation laid by predecessors in the education sector, resulting in a number of first positions taken by the state in various international and national competitions.
