Bishop Okeke Urges Christians To Trust in Divine Providence
The Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, has urged Christians to always trust in the Divine Providence as they Labour in the Lord’s Vineyard.
He gave the advice at the ordination of nine new Priests at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
The Archbishop maintained that a worker in the house of God represents God, therefore, any difficulty faced in the course of their servitude should be taken to Him, who is the Father and owner of the service as well as the vineyard.
“There is nothing you can do on your own, your calling and stewardship is not by your choice because even before you were born, the Lord knows you; He has fashioned it that this day will come and that you will be where you are now.
‘`Take every request to God; seek His face at all times. Do not allow the desires of the flesh dictate for you; be watchful and let the spirit of The Most High God take you the whole way through in your living.’’
The Archbishop made a consecratory prayer on the newly ordained, asking God for the out pouring of the Holy Spirit on them. He also performed the essential rites of the Sacrament of Holy Orders on them.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Rev. Denis Isiuzor, and Priests of the Onitsha Archdiocese Presbyterium concelebrated at the ordination which attracted family members of the Ordinands, friends and other Catholic faithful to the Basilica to witness the ordination.
The newly ordained priests are Kenneth Okoye, from Isuofia; Valentine Obiagwu, Alor; Eusebius Okpala, Nnobi; Justin Obialor, Abajah; Augustine Nwagoh, Umuoji; Emmanuel Nweke,Ifite –Ogwari and John Ezeokoli, Nanka.
Others are Emmanuel Igboegbunam, Umunachi and Felix Ihediwa, Ezinihitte Mbaise.
They spoke to Information Officers shortly after the ordination, Fr. Justin Obialor, prayed for God’s mercy to see them through in the journey.
“It is by the mercy of God that we all were able to be ordained and it is that mercy that we are asking God to give us in its fullness so that we can deliver our services as is supposed of us.’’
Fr. Kenneth Okoye, congratulated his fellow priests for making themselves available to be used as God’s instruments.
“I ask for God’s assistant as we go through the journey of faith and through the path that we have all chosen today.’’
Rev. Fr. Alex Anosike, from Holy Family Parish Nkpor urged the new priests to always concentrate on their callings and never allow anybody to deceive them, adding that they should remember that they were called by God to serve the people. (MOI)
