
Bus Plunges Into Lagos Lagoon, 2 Passengers Missing
An LT 18 seater bus on Wednesday morning, plunged into the Lagos Lagoon from the top of the Mainland Bridge.
Rescuers are searching for the bodies of two passengers of the bus who were flung into the lagoon.
The victims were among the passengers onboard the bus involved in an accident on the recently repaired bridge.
The accident occurred around the Adeniji Adele, end of the bridge inward Lagos Island.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the bus was on high speed when it swerved off the road and crashed into the bridge railings.
Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South West region, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident, saying that the fatal crash involved a LT 18-seater bus with registration number FKJ 872 YA.
“The bus swerved uncontrollably, off the road and eventually hit the bridge rails and caused the two passengers to be flung off into the lagoon.”
“The victims, an adult male and female are being search for by the Marine Police. The crash vehicle has been towed to Adeniji Adele police station,” he said.
