Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has expressed disappointment over his exclusion from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s Player of the Year shortlist.
Despite a stellar season, Boniface and fellow Nigerian Victor Osimhen were omitted, while Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong made the list.
Reacting in a video shared by sports journalist Pooja, Boniface said, “Not sad, but disappointed… I had an amazing season.” He suggested the award might focus more on AFCON performances but affirmed his commitment to improving his game.
When asked about his favorite for the award, Boniface named compatriot Ademola Lookman. The final list also includes Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Algeria’s Amine Gouiri, and Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra, among others.
