The Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has urged Priests to be holy as that was necessary to shepherd the flock under their care effectively.
Bishop Ezeokafor gave the advice yesterday, in his homely during the Cathedraticum Mass.
He also implored the laity to pray for the priests and the Church and to support the Church.
The Bishop made it clear that faith was essential for the effective practice of Christianity.
He decried the use of violence to support the Igbo cause; noting that a typical Igbo man abhors killing.
He urged everyone to be mindful of their environment so as not to be taken unawares.
Bishop Ezeokafor explained that it was a tripartite celebration—the commemoration of the institution of priests, the presentation of gifts by the laity to support the work of the Diocese (Cathedraticum), and the blessing of the Oil of Chrism, Catechumen, and the Sick.
