Manchester City , in an attacking display, beat Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge and by so doing has increased the pressure on Frank Lampard.

City, who were without a number of first-team players following an outbreak of coronavirus at the club, stunned Lampard’s side with three goals in the space of 16 first-half minutes.

The game had Hakim Ziyech return to the Chelsea line-up for the first time since December 2020.

The crisp low finish from Ilkay Gundogan’s finish broke the deadlock before Phil Foden doubled City’s lead three minutes later.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, who came on in the second half, scored in second-half stoppage time for Chelsea.

The result moves City up to fifth in the table, four points off Liverpool and Manchester United, and with a game in hand on both their rivals.

Chelsea remains in eight position on 26 points in the Premier League table.
