It was a double celebration in Anaocha local government area Anambra state as one of their illustrious sons, Dr Chukwuemeka Okeke was conferred with the chieftaincy title of IKEMBA DI UGWU by the Anaocha Council of Traditional Rulers on Saturday 18th September 2021 at the LGA Headquarters Neni, on the same day Anaocha people celebrated their new yam festival.

Dr Emeka, who was the former chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Anambra state football Association ( ANSFA), said the title IKEMBA is not just ordinary but has something to do with the return of late Chukwuemeka odimegwu Ojukwu from exile and the birth of Dr Emeka Okeke and his Contributions to the development of Anaocha and Anambra, which also shows how much he believes in Igbo culture.

Emeka Okeke has been involved in sports and cultural development, and also sponsored the Oji for the festival in Adazi-Ani and to UNIZIK and Adazi-Ani cultural festival. He is the brain behind “My Anambra football” with the super8 tournament. As a child, he was involved in community development.
He also said that the chieftaincy title given to him is a huge task and promised to do anything in his power to see that his responsibilities are well carried out in the communities.
Dr Emeka equally promised, in six months, to commence the development of 10 football pitches in each of the 10 towns in Anaocha LGA and will consider organizing a football competition tagged “IKEMBA CUP”.
He, however, called on well-meaning Anambrarians to come together in promoting football in Anaocha and Nigeria at large, citing the example of an experienced Anambrarian in the game as Ike Ofojie from Umuoji who has been the head football coach at the University of Southern Carolina, while also pledging to encourage school sports.
Many dignitaries, in sports and politics, graced the occasion among whom were former super eagle player Chikelue Iloanyosi, Vice Chairman Anambra football Association Victor Aniekwena, Commissioner for youth and sports development Chief Tony Oli, Speaker house of Assembly Hon Uche Okafor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Sen Victor Umeh among others.
