Civil Defence Corps Seeks Anambra Judiciary Support in Expedition Of Justice

Anambra State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Sylvia Ifemeje, says her Ministry is favourably disposed to work in synergy with the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for security of lives and property of Ndi Anambra.
She was speaking when the management team of NSCDC paid her a courtesy visit in her office.
According to her, her office will synergize with the Security outfit in eliminating crime and ensure that Anambra state is no longer safe for hoodlums.
Prof. Ifemeje further posited that lawyers from the ministry would be provided to help in the prosecution of cases and training of the Civil Defence personnel involved in prosecution and investigations.
In his address, Commandant, Anambra State Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Isidore Chikere, said that the visit was to seek their collaboration in areas of prosecution and training of NSCDC personnel involved in court cases.
Mr. Chikere intimated that his office has the mandate to protect National infrastructures like oil pipelines and other national assets from vandals.
He added that his men have the mandate to train private security guards to arrest, as well as prosecute criminals, and appealed to the state Attorney-General to avail his office the services of lawyers for quick dispensation of justice.
The Legal Adviser of the State Civil Defence, Barr. Adedayo Awodan, said that they have some matters in the state High Court and appealed for the assistance of the Justice Ministry in providing lawyers that would assist the outfit at the State High Court.
Other members of the management team that were at the visit include the Deputy Commandant and Head of Operations, Yakubu Alada and Head of Private Guards, Companies Department, Deputy Commandant Francis Obinna.
Others are Personal Assistant to the State Commandant, Deputy Superintendent Chukwuma Umeuwa; Protocol Officer to the State Commandant, Assistant Superintendent Chioma Nnaewuru; Public Relations Officer of the State NSCDC, Deputy Superintendent Edwin Okadigbo among others.
