In compliance with the directive by His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, the State’s ministry of women and children affairs, in the early hours of Saturday 14th November, 2020, at Onitsha, rescued two mentally challenged persons a teenage girl and a middle aged man at Fegge and Onisi Onira Garden Inland Town Onitsha, respectively.

The team of social workers led by the Honorable Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, located the pregnant teenager at Ziks Avenue Fegge and another young man, at Onisi Onira Garden both in Onitsha. The duo were professionally rescued and relocated to government owned facility to be cared for.

In her reaction, Lady Ndidi Mezue, who was visibly relieved as a result of the rescue, particularly that of the pregnant teen, explained that the heavily pregnant teen will be cared for in a special facility where she will stay till she delivers. She expressed her relief that the girl has been rescued following calls from concerned citizens.
