A group under the umbrella, Concerned Ndiagu Residents have continued to express strong dissatisfaction with the way and manner electricity supply is being managed in the vicinity. The group are residents within the axis of Ndiagu from Ojiagu square down to Namkpu boundaries with Umuezune Village.
For the past five months and still counting, there has never been a steady supply of power for obvious rectifiable faults.
Whenever the residents of the area complain to the EEDC, their engineers usually come and fix the fault only for the same fault to develop again in the next hours affecting the cost of living of the residents of the area.
This fault has damaged numerous home appliances, ranging from air conditioning, television, sumo and uncountable phone charges etc.
According to a former member of the Namkpu Electricity Committee who spoke to Kpakpando anonymously, the fault is solvable through what he described as an EEDC-COMMUNITY-based partnership with regards to repairs and maintenance. He explained that separators for the high tension wires are no longer functional and needs to be replaced. He pointed out that high tension wires from Ojiagu Transformer to Ojiagu primary school need a total overhaul as they can no longer withstand the load from the area due to the steady rise in population and further explained that it is one of the reasons the vicinity experience incessant power outages.
Now, the concerned residents of Ndiagu Village are urging the EEDC to fix the problem or disconnect from Ojiagu square to Namkpu Boundry with Akabor pending when the fault is rectified as a power supply in the area is totally useless for them.
Also, they are urging the Ndiagu Village Chairman, Mr Chinedu Ugochukwu, a resident of the axis, whom they describe as a vibrant young man, to use his youthful vigour and position as the number one Citizen of Ndiagu Village to either source for the fund or levy the residents who confirmed they are willing to contribute money so that a lasting solution can be achieved.
