Contrary to stories and social media posts earlier today suggesting that the union has suspended the strike following a meeting with members of the leadership of the House of Representatives on Monday, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has clarified that the union has not yet suspended its ongoing industrial action.

Prof Emmanuel Osodeke , ASUU chairman, also pointed out that for the first time, the Union saw light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaking to newsmen earlier today concerning the strike, the ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke, said the union has not suspended the strike, describing stories that his union had suspended the strike as “fake.”

According to sources, there will be ASUU Congress in different zones between today and tomorrow, after which the National Executive Council of the union will then meet to decide on the suspension of the strike.

Recall that the Court of Appeal last Friday ordered ASUU to suspend the strike before continuing with its appeal against the judgement of the Industrial Court.
